Day Named to NFCA All-New England Region Second Team

CAMBRIDGE, MA. - Lesley Lynx Softball senior and New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Year Jordan Day has been named to the All-New England Region Second Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA). Day earned the honors at the Utility/Pitcher spot after dominating both in the circle and at the plate for the Lynx this season.

In thirteen pitching appearances, Day finished with an 7-1 regular season record and came third in the conference in both strikeouts with 82 and ERA with a 2.07 mark. She averaged 8.57 strikeouts per game and held hitters to a .197 average, both tops in the NECC. Day began the season on a six game winning streak, never allowing more than three runs in any of those victories. She hit a season high in strikeouts with fifteen in a win over Mitchell and came back the next day to strike out twelve, also against the Mariners.

At the plate, Day was a force to be reckoned with. She hit .532 during the regular season and led the league in total bases with 54 and hits with 33. Day finished with at least one hit in every game she played this season and finished with six home runs and 37 runs batted in over the regular season and postseason. Day also had three stolen bases and ten doubles this season. Her best performance in both facets came during Lesley's first playoff game against New England College, in which Day threw a no-hitter on the mound and crushed two home runs, one being a grand slam, to drive in eight runs.

This is Day's third time earning NFCA recognition. During her sophomore season, Day was named to the All-American First Team and the All-New England Region First Team, both at the Designated Player position.
