ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Lesley University softball team sealed the second seed in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action announced Sunday evening. The Lynx will host seventh seed Mitchell College (11-18, 7-11 NECC) on Tuesday May 2nd at 4:00 p.m.
The Lynx have one of the top offenses in the conference leading the NECC in slugging percentage (.535) and is second in batting average (.538) while also having one the conference's leader in wins. First year right-hander Sarah Bushman (Aurora, Colo.) is a perfect 9-0 in conference play while posting a staggering 1.40 ERA and 74 strikeouts.
Newbury College secured the number one seed with a 16-2 record and will host eight seeded Southern Vermont College in the first round on Tuesday afternoon.
Regis College earns the third seed and will host sixth seeded Elms College while defending champion Becker College claimed the fourth seed and will host fifth seed Bay Path University
The winners of the first round games will advance to double elimination portion of the NECC tournament, beginning on Friday, May 5th. These games will be hosted at the highest remaining seed after the play in games on Tuesday.
