Four Lynx named to NFCA All-New England teams

STARKVILLE, MS -- A Lesley program-record four players were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-New England teams, the NFCA announced.

New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Year Jenna Fralick (Woburn, MA/Woburn) was named to the NFCA All-New England Second Team, as was NECC Pitcher of the Year Jennifer Dorval (Franklin, NH/Franklin) and All-NECC First Team designated player Emily Mangiaratti (Amherst, MA/Amherst). Fellow All-NECC First Teamer Gabrielle Brixey (Coalinga, CA/West Hills CC) was named to the NFCA All-New England Third Team.

Fralick makes her first NFCA appearance after a season in which she finished fourth in the NECC with a .429 batting average and fifth in stolen bases, going a perfect 17-17 on the basepaths. In league games, the senior led the conference with a .549 batting average and a 1.000 fielding percentage while starting all 18 of the Lynx games at the hot corner.

Mangiaratti returns for her third NFCA appearance in three years and second straight on the second team. The junior led the NECC with a Lesley program-record seven triples, as well as 37 runs batted in and 46 runs scored.

The Lynx leadoff hitter finished second in the NECC with 54 hits, fifth with a .422 batting average and fourth with a team-leading 19 stolen bases, swiping a perfect 19 bases in 19 attempts.

Dorval returns to the NFCA All-New England Second Team for a second time in two seasons with the Lynx. She overpowered batters in earning league bests of 15 wins (15-2), a 1.14 earned run average, 8.04 strikeouts per seven innings and an .882 winning percentage. In league play, Dorval went undefeated for a second year in a row, going a pristine 10-0 with 11 strikeouts per game, allowing a total of two earned runs over 52 and 1/3 innings for a miniscule 0.27 ERA.

Batters hit just .190 off Dorval in 2012, with NECC opponents managing just a .132 average. Her 1.14 ERA and .190 opponents' batting average both marked new Lesley records.

At the plate, the sophomore hit .368 with a .515 slugging percentage, scoring 15 runs and driving in 15 in only 68 at-bats.

Brixey was named to the NFCA All-New England Third Team following another standout season that resulted in her second straight All-NECC First Team appearance. The senior finished second in the NECC behind only Mangiaratti with 34 RBIs, fourth with 11 doubles, sixth with 46 hits, eighth with 32 runs and ninth with a .549 slugging percentage. She hit .377 ovearll while playing in 38 of the team's 40 games, starting all 38 in center field, where she totaled a team-best four outfield assists.

After a 28-12 season and fifth straight league championship, Lesley's record of four honorees was topped this year only by NCAA regional champion Tufts University's five and bested the Lynx three honorees a season ago.
