Fralick named NECC Player of the Year, Dorval Pitcher of the Year

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Lesley's Jenna Fralick (Woburn, MA/Woburn) and Jennifer Dorval (Franklin, NH/Franklin) have been named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Year and NECC Pitcher of the Year, respectively, the league announced this afternoon. '

For the second season in a row, the Lynx sent five players to the NECC First Team, including Dorval and center fielder Gabrielle Brixey (Coalinga, CA/West Hills, CC) for a second year in a row, designated player Emily Mangiaratti (Amherst, MA/Amherst) for the third straight season, and Fralick and second base player Jessica Guevara (Nantucket, MA/Nantucket) for the first time.

In her first full season, catcher Allison Fountain (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) was named to the All-NECC Second Team.

Improving on last season's NECC Second Team honors, Fralick led the league in batting with a robust .549 average during league games while playing a flawless hot corner to the tune of a 1.000 fielding percentage. The switch hitter was a perfect 11-11 in stolen base attempts in NECC games, finishing second with nine walks, third with 28 hits and ninth with 17 RBI.

Overall, the senior co-captain is tied for second in the league in batting at .440 on the year, ranks fifth with 17 stolen bases and seventh with 33 runs.

Named NECC Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year a season ago, Dorval adds a Pitcher of the Year award to the mantle, as she was again the league's most dominant starter. Undefeated in league play at 10-0, her 10 wins led all pitchers, as did her miniscule 0.27 NECC ERA and 11 strikeouts per game. The first team all-confernece selection hit .452 at the plate with eight runs scored and 12 RBI in league play and hit .368 overall.

For the year, her 1.14 ERA led all pitchers leaguewide, as did her 15 wins. In 98 and 1/3 innings pitched, Dorval fanned 113. She threw six shutouts, a perfect game, three three-hitters, a two-hitter, two one-hitters, going 15-2 for a league-best .882 winning percentage.

Back for a second season in her two years in Cambridge, Brixey led the league in RBI's during NECC games with 26 and finished second overall with 34. Her .759 slugging percentage in league games ranked her sixth in the league and her .466 batting average finished seventh, as she hit .402 for the entire regular season.

In 58 NECC at-bats, she totaled 11 extra-base hits, including seven doubles, good for third in the league, and finished third overall with 13 doubles in NECC play.

Returning for a third time in three seasons, Mangiaratti leads the league with 46 runs scored. The junior finished second in the NECC with a .591 on-base percentage in league play, fourth with a .527 batting average, and fifth with 20 RBI's in NECC games. Her nine walks in league play tied for second.

The designated player's 37 RBI's leads the NECC, and after going a perfect 19-19 in the stolen base department, she ranks fourth in the league in steals. Mangiaratti's .426 batting average is good for fifth.

Appearing for a first time on the first team is Guevara, the Lynx third-year second base player. The junior ranked second in the NECC in batting average in league games, finishing the season at a .531 clip. Her .776 slugging percentage in league games, meanwhile, ranked fourth in the conference.

The team's No. 2 hitter, her team-high 14 sacrifices led the league and aided in leadoff hitter Mangiaratti's NECC-best 46 runs.

Fountain led all catchers and ranked fifth in the league with a .509 league batting average in league play and ranked eighth with a .691 league slugging percentage. Her nine walks in NECC games were good for second in the league and her 21 RBI's ranked third in league play.

On the year, she currently stands at third in the NECC with 33 RBI's.

This year marks Lesley's second straight season earning the NECC Player of the Year and sending five players to the All-NECC First Team. Dorval's first Pitcher of the Year honor is Lesley's fourth in four seasons in the NECC.

The 28-10 Lynx now prepare for the program's second straight NCAA Tournament, which begins this week at Eastern Connecticut State University.
