BABSON PARK, MA -- Babson jumped on NECC Pitcher of the Week Jennifer Dorval for three runs in the first and two more in the fourth in the Beavers 5-2 Game 1 win over the Lynx on Thursday.

The Beavers then used a four-run second and seven-run third off starter Cassandra Knox to cruise to a 14-1 victory in the nightcap.

A three-run double and a two-run homer supplied all the offense Babson would need. Coming off a perfect game in the Lynx win at Elms on Sunday, Dorval loaded the bases in the first inning, and Babson's Kelly King promptly unloaded them, knocking a three-run, one-out double to right-center to give the Beavers the early 3-1 lead.

Lesley got one back in the second on a Maria Nazzaro RBI ground out that scored Gabrielle Brixey, but Lindsey Schmid homered to left in the fourth, a two-run shot that made it a 5-1 game, and the Beavers went on to win 5-2.

Brixey went 2-for-3 with a run scored, and reigning NECC Player of the Week Emily Mangiaratti singled and scored Lesley's only other run.

Dorval allowed five earned runs on only four hits and two walks for just her second loss of 2012, striking out four.

Another three-run double, this off the bat of Catie Funk, sent the Beavers out to a 4-0 lead as part of the team's four-run second inning in Game 2. Babson then scored seven in the third, started by a two-run Sam Pilkington double and followed by a pair of RBI singles and three RBI walks, to open up a 12-0 lead.

Lesley first base player Molly Sarson broke the scoreless drought with an RBI single up the middle that scored sophomore Allison Fountain, and the Beavers tacked on two more to win 14-1 in five.

Sarson and Brixey collected the team's only hits in Game 2, each going 1-for-2.

Funk, meanwhile, went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and four driven in for the Beavers.

Knox's 12 runs allowed were a career-high and came on seven walks and seven hits over 2 and 1/3 innings.

Lesley returns to play Saturday at home at 2 p.m. with an NECC doubleheader against Southern Vermont.
