Lynx softball splits Florida finale, 4-0, 7-3

CLERMONT, FL -- Lesley softball lost 4-0 to Plattsburgh State and beat Rutgers-Newark 7-3 on the last day of the Lynx Florida swing.

Plattsburgh pitcher Ashley Marshall's no-hitter silenced the Lynx in the opener, but the Lynx sticks came alive for 11 hits in the team's 7-3 win over the Scarlet Raiders.

Starting pitcher Cassandra Knox struck out two over three innings and took the loss despite allowing only one run on a solo homer against Platsburgh State. Mary Dembinski K'd four - all looking - in three innings of three-run relief.

First base player Molly Sarson's two-run single capped a four-run third inning for the Lynx against the Rutgers-Newark. Gaby Brixey drove in a run on a double in the fifth, and Jenna Fralick's sac fly added another to put the Lynx up by the final of 7-3.

Dembinski picked up the win for the Lynx, allowing two runs over three-plus innings. At the plate, Brixey went 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored. Dembinski singled twice, and sophomore Nicole Mercurio scored twice in her right field debut.

Lesley wraps up its Florida swing at 2-4 and travels to Wheaton College a week from today.
