Red-hot Lynx look to make it eight straight at Wellesley

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Winners of seven in a row and nine of ten dating back to the team's Florida swing, Lesley heads east to Wellesley for a Sunday doubleheader on the heels of a no-hitter from 2010 New England Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year Cassandra Knox and a scoreless start from freshman Jennifer Dorval.

The Lynx (10-4, 2-0 NECC) took two in the team's NECC opener against Becker on Saturday, with Knox's no-hitter setting the stage for another fine outing for Dorval, who improved to 6-1 on her freshman campaign with an eight-strikeout, four-hit win in a 10-2 triumph.

Knox's no-hit dominance of the Hawks marked the finest performance to date from Lesley's ace. The  junior right-hander need only 50 pitches to silence the Hawks, as Knox struck out seven and walked none in her five inning gem.

Lucky 7's: As stunning as Dorval's start to her Lynx career has been on the mound, she's been even better at the plate as of late. Her single in the third inning on Saturday capped a streak in which the freshman tallied seven hits in seven straight at-bats. Lesley's leading hitter heads to Wellesley with a white-hot .593 batting average, garnering 16 hits in her first 27 college at-bats.

Leading the charge at the top of the Lynx lineup is designated hitter Emily Mangiaratti. The sophomore made the most of her 2-for-4 day at the plate on Saturday, scoring five runs and swiping a pair of bases in Lesley's two wins over Becker. Successful on 30 of 32 stolen base attempts as a freshman, the Lynx leadoff hitter has made good on six of her first seven tries on the bases in 2011.
