INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- The jury is in, and it will be the Bears from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy that get a shot at snapping the Lynx 19-game winning streak as Lesley returns to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2008.
Lesley will take on Coast Guard on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at Rhode Island College's Dayna A. Bazar Softball Facility.
Pairings were announced during today's NCAA Selection Show. Lesley received a No. 7 seed in the Providence, RI region and will take on No. 2 Coast Guard. The Bears finished 36-2 out of the New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).
Coast Guard is led by junior All-American starting pitcher Hayley Feindel, who broke the NCAA Division III single-season record by throwing her 26th shutout this season.
The winner of Lesley's game will face the winner of the Endicott College-St. Joseph's of Maine matchup. Endicott finished 35-6 out of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC), while the Monks went 35-8 out of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).
Video of all of Lesley's NCAA Tournament games will be streamed live online at no cost, and live, in-game stats will also be available.
