Knox NECC Pitcher of the Week, Dorval Rookie of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- After leading their teams to a 4-2 week and 2-0 start to league play, Lesley University pitchers Cassandra Knox and Jennifer Dorval have been named New England Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Knox struck out seven in a complete game, five-inning no-hitter against Becker on Saturday, walking none and holding the Hawks hitless over an economical 50 pitches in the reigning NECC Pitcher of the Year's career game. Only three Lynx errors got in the way of perfection for Knox, as the junior improved to 4-3 on the year with her third win in a row and first outing all year without allowing a walk.

Her first career no-hitter upstaged her previous finest outing of the year, Thursday's win at Lasell in which she held the Lasers to five hits and one earned run in Lesley's 3-2 win.

As stunning as Dorval's start to her Lynx career has been on the mound, winning six of her first seven decisions, she's been even better at the plate as of late. Her single in the third inning on Saturday capped a streak in which the freshman tallied nine hits in nine straight at-bats, including a 6-for-6 stretch last week.

She went 4-for-4 in a road win at Lasell and 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs in her first taste of NECC pitching in a league victory over Becker. Lesley's leading hitter sports a .563 average 13 games into her Lynx career and picked up her first career stolen base on Saturday against the Hawks.

Against Lesley's stiffest competition, 18-8 Wellesley College, the freshman went 2-for-4 with a walk and two RBIs.

Dorval, Knox and the Lynx return to the diamond Monday night in non-conference play at Emmanuel.
