Lynx gobble up Gators in five, 12-4

CHESTNUT HILL, MA -- Four different Lynx scored two runs each and a seven-run fifth inning pulled the Lynx back to .500 on the season at 4-4 with a 12-4 win at Pine Manor (2-7) on Tuesday.

Jenna Fralick went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI's, one of four Lynx who scored two runs in Lesley's first New England game of 2011 and first action in 19 days.

Lesley got on the board in the first, as Jessica Guevara singled and Gabrielle Brixey doubled, coming around to score on an Alyson Durben RBI ground out and an Ashley Cunningham single.

The Lynx added one in the second after Fralick doubled and was singled home by Emily Mangiaratti, giving freshman starter Jennifer Dorval a 3-0 lead after two.

After Pine Manor's Michelle Campbell led off with a single in the third, a Kayla Neilsen home run to left pulled the Gators to within one, at 3-2.

Lesley got both runs right back in the top of the fourth. Dorval led off with a single and pinch-runner Chelsea Quackenbush advanced after shortstop Sarah Apgar reached on a Jen Gross error. Lynx sophomore Molly Sarson grounded out to score Quackenbush, and Mangiaratti's second RBI single scored Apgar to up the Lesley lead to 5-2.

A pair of Gators RBI singles pulled the home team to within 5-4 after four before Lesley expolded for seven in the fifth. Starting with Brixey's leadoff base hit, three Lynx singled and scored and two more Lynx walked and scored, with Fralick's double coming as the big blow, scoring Sarson and Dorval.

A Durben RBI single plated Guevara to cap the rally, and Dorval held the Gators hitless in the bottom half of the frame to end the game after five and close out a 12-4 road win.

Dorval struck out eight over her five innings, allowing four runs on four hits, walking three in improving to 3-1 on her freshman year.

In what was scheduled to be a double header, Game 2 was called due to darkness.

Lesley opens its home slate on Thursday, playing host to Framingham State in a double dip starting at 3:00 p.m.
