Lynx drop pair at Southern Vermont tri-match

BENNINGTON, VT -- Lesley captured the day's first set over host Southern Vermont, but fell to the Mountaineers 3-1 before dropping a 3-0 decision to Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday.

The Lynx beat Southern Vermont 25-20 before the Mountaineers picked up 25-11, 25-20 and 25-22 victories to take the match. Zachary Almeida-Beers led the Lynx and finished second overall with nine kills and 16 digs. William Lau and Christian Domingo each totaled 12 digs, and Domingo led all players with two solo blocks. Lau, meanwhile, served a match-best four aces.

Southern Vermont's Anthony Barahona led all players with 23 kills and a .373 hitting percentage.

After falling 25-11 to Mount Saint Vincent in Game 1, the Lynx dropped consecutive sets by the score of 25-23. Lau led the Lynx with seven kills, while Domingo added five. Stephen Siragusa led the defense with 14 digs and Almeida-Beers chipped in with 10 digs and a pair of solo blocks. Sirigusa also set up the offense with 14 assists.

Lesley (0-7) returns home to take on Johnson & Wales on Monday night at 8 p.m.
