CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University men's volleyball team dropped a conference home match to Newbury College 3-0 (30-12, 30-24, 30-12) and saw their season record fall to 2-10 (2-6 NECVA, 2-4 NECC). Newbury improved to 13-4 (9-0 NECVA, 6-0 NECC) follow the straight set victory.

Newbury seniors Joshua Aberly (PALATINE, Ill./Palatine) and Mark Thomas (WILBRAHAM, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) led the Nighthawks offensively with 15 and 14 kills, respectively. Both players were extremely efficient on the attack as Thomas had a .632 hit percentage while Aberly sported a .500 hit percentage.

The Lynx were led by Nick Assad (ANDOVER, Mass./Andover) who had five kills and kept Lesley in the match defensively with a match-high 12 digs. Mike Jack (BUENOS AIRES, Argentina/St. George's) chipped in with two kills, two aces, and six digs.

Newbury handled the first and third sets easily, but Lesley caused the visitors some trouble in the second set. The Lynx jumped out to an early 9-2 advantage in the set. The Nighthawks battled back into the set thanks to a 5-0 run that eventually brought the score to 14-12. With the score tied 19-19, Newbury went on another 5-0 that gave them the lead for good as the Nighthawks went on to win the set 30-24.

Lesley will travel to Endicott on Thursday, February 24 for a 7:00 pm start with the Gulls while Newbury hosts Rivier College on February 25 at 7:00 pm.
