THE LEAD – The Lesley University men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Jonathan Tymann Invitational on Saturday afternoon hosted by Gordon College. At Saturday's meet, multiple personal bests were set by both men's and women's squads.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

  • In his collegiate track and field debut, Anthony Rust (Beverly, Mass.) had a strong first impression as the first year sprinter came in sixth in the preliminaries at the 100m dash with a time of 12.13 seconds. 
  • Hezekiah Brown (Stafford, Va.) continued his strong start to the year with top-10 finishes in both the 100m dash (11.75 seconds-11th) and high-jump (1.70m-second). Brown's mark in the high jump Saturday was both a personal and school record.
  • Jelanie Morgan (Atlanta, Ga.) set multiple personal bests on Saturday in both the 100m and 200m races. In the 100, he came in 28th place (12.21 seconds) and in the 200, he finished 20th wiht a time of 25.80 seconds.
  • Johnny Maldonado (Chelsea, Mass.) and Liam McNeil (Hudson, N.H.) both had solid debuts in the 1,500m race Saturday. For Maldonado, he crossed the finish line in 18th place (5:17.94) and right behind him was McNeil who in his collegiate debut notched a 19th place finish at 6:36.65.
  • Along with Brown competing in the high jump for field events, first year thrower Osmin Castaneda (East Boston, Mass.) took part in both discus and shotput. In discus, he set another first year record with a throw of 19.98m (13). Meanwhile in shotput, he had a throw of 6.97m (13th place).

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Estephany Morales (New York, N.Y.) highlighted the day in her collegiate debut earning a eigith place finish in the 400m at 1:24.65. 
  • In the 100m, Meriell Wordell (Newton, Mass.) took part in the 100m and finished within the top-20 (19th) at 14.64 seconds. 
  • The 800m saw two Lynx compete in that race with Darily Sanchez-Vargas (Chlesea, Mass.) finishing 10th (2:57.82) and MacKenzie Mann (Franklin, Mass.) coming in at 12th (3:10.54). For Mann, time earned her a new career-best. 
  • Finally, in the 1500m, Rebecca Hall (Richmond, Vt.) and Holly Swinamer (Franklin, Mass.) each set new personal bests in the race. Hall crossed the finish line in 10th place with a time of 5:52.09 while Swinamer came in 19th at 8:06.24

  • Lesley will be back in action next Saturday on April 12 when the Lynx head to Southern New Hampshire University for the Ed Daniels Inviational.
