THE LEAD – The Lesley University outdoor men's and women's track and field team kicked off the 2025 campaign at the Tufts University Snowflake Classic. In Saturday's meet, the Lynx saw two program records and multiple personal bests set in the meet.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Hezekiah Brown (Stafford, Va.) tied his own program record in the 100m when he crossed the finish line at 11.63 seconds for seventh place. He previously posted this mark last year at the Monks Track and Field meet (April 14). He also set another program record in the high jump when he posted a leap of 1.65m (5-0.05.00).
- Meanwhile in shoutput, first year thrower Osmin Castaneda (East Boston, Mass.) set a new shotput first year record with a throw of 7.04 meters (23-01.25).
- Making their track and field debuts, Jelanie Morgan (Atlanta, Ga.) and Jamarick Preston (Columbus, Ga.) took part in the 100m where they posted 26th (12.43 seconds) and 33rd (12.88 seconds) place finishes respectively.
- In the 5000m, Johnny Maldonado (Chelsea, Mass.) represented the Lynx and came away with a 13rd place finish at 21:13.71.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- On the women's side, Meriell Wordell (Newton, Mas.) highlighted they Lynx's day with a 28th place finish in the 100m in her collegiate debut at 14.34 seconds.
- In the 800m, Darily Sanchez-Vargas (Chelsea, Mass.) took 36th place at 2:56.18 in first career meet. In the next heat, Rebecca Hall (Richmond, Vt.) took home heat four in her first meet with a time of 3:02.23 for 39th place. Mackenzie Mann (Franklin, Mass.) rounded out the runners for Lynx competeing in the 800m at 3:12.13 for a 47th place finish. For Mann, her time Saturday also marked a personal best.
- The Lynx saw two runners partake in the 1500m led by a 42nd place finish from Hall who crossed the finish line at 5:57.06. Meanwhile, Holly Swinamer (Franklin, Mass.) saw a 56th place finish with a time of 8:14.11.

- Lesley will be back in action next Saturday (April 5) when the squad takes part in the Jonathan Tyman Invitational hosted by Gordon College.
