THE LEAD – The Lesley University men's tennis team opened the 2025 campaign on Saturday afternoon at Thomas College, falling to the Terriers in both the season and Empire 8 opener, 9-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Doubles (Match 1):

• In the first doubles spot, DJ Cronin (New York, N.Y.) and Miles Brajdic (Atlanta, Georgia) dropped the first set, 8-1. 
• The second pairing in doubles (Thomas Nicol (Acton, Mass.) and James Ontiveros (Waltham, Mass.) fell by a score of 8-0. 
• Finally, the three spot in doubles saw the pairing of Jeremy Ouellette (Old Saybrook, Conn.) and Hunter Treanor (Bulverde, Texas) lost, 8-1.

Singles (Match 2):

• Despite the loss in the five spot, Ouelltte played hard in a competitive 6-0, 6-3 loss. 
• Leading off singles action for Lesley, Nicol fell 6-1, 6-3. 
• The second spot saw Brajdic take part but ended up with a 6-0, 6-0 defeat. 
• In singles three, Cronin was downed 6-1, 6-0. 
• Ontiveros took part in singles four however he dropped was defeated by a score of 6-0, 6-0. 
• Finally, in the last singles spot of the first match, Bennett Locke (Braintree, Mass.) was also defeated 6-0, 6-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

Doubles (Match 2):

• Leading off doubles in match two, the pairing of Brajdic and Cronin fell 8-5 in a competive matchup. 
• In the second spot of doubles, Nicol and Ontiveros were defeated 8-0. 
• The last pairing of doubles in Ouellette and Treanor battled but were downed 8-5. 

Singles (Match 2):

• Nicol kicked off singles matches for Lesley and fought hard in a 6-3, 6-3 loss. 
• Brajdic was up next in singles two action but fell 6-1, 6-0. The third spot in singles saw Cronin defeated 6-0, 6-0. 
• In the four spot, Ontiveros dropped the set 6-0, 6-0. Next in the five spot, Ouellette also fell 6-0, 6-0. 
• Finally, in the sixth spot in singles, Finnie was downed 6-0, 6-1.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Saturday's match marked the first time taking part as associate members of the Empire 8 Conference.
• The opening match also marked the collegiate debuts for Treanor and Ouellette.
