Mattox Named NECC Player of the Week

For the first time this season, senior Nick Mattox (Pasadena, Md.) has been named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week. NECC Assistant Commissioner for Communications, Robb Modica, made the announcement today in the conference weekly report.

Mattox has helped lead the Lynx to wins in five of their last six matches as he has been a consistent performer in No. 1 singles and doubles. The senior has an impressive 5-1 singles record in the NECC and has posted a 4-1 mark since being paired up with doubles partner Mike Kaufman (Boca Raton, Fla.).

MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Nick Mattox, Lesley University

(Senior, 1 - Singles/Doubles - Pasadena, Md.)

The senior had quite a week playing in the first slot in both singles and doubles. In singles, Mattox went 2-0 in conference play and had his single blemish in a loss at Bridgewater State. The Pasadena, Maryland native rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Wheelock and won the clincher in a 5-4 win over Becker, defeating his opponent 7-5, 6-3 in a marathon match that lasted over two hours. On the doubles side, Mattox and teammate Mike Kaufman went 3-0 on the week, posting victories over Wheelock, Becker, and Bridgewater.
