Lions Sweep Past Lynx in Season Opener

WINCHESTER, Mass. –The Emerson Men's Tennis Team improved to a perfect 2-0 on the year on Wednesday as they took a clean sweep of the Lynx. for their second win of the season. With the match the Lions are now 2-0 as Lesley opens up 0-1 on the season.

The match started up with singles first due to court restraints where the Lions took no time in taking to the scoreboard with Kevin Blisniuk, Steve Frend and Matthew Clark all posting perfect 6-0, 6-0 wins in the one, three and six spots.

The Lynx were swept out of the four and five spots as well as Brent Walkoff and Vincent Castellini each collected a 6-1, 6-0 win. In the second slot, Mitchell Lance defeated Lynx senior Alex Zhitnik (West Hartford, Conn.) 6-2, 6-0 to make it 6-0 headed into doubles.

Doubles action proved similar results for the Lions as all three duos pulled off 8-1 wins over their Lesley opponents. Mitchell Lance and Brent Walkoff pulled in first with the W, followed in suit by Kevin Blisniuk and Steve Frend and Roland Lewan and Vincent Castellini completing the perfect sweep.

The team's Man of the Match proved to be newcomer Steve Frend who now boasts a perfect 2-0 record on the year in singles and doubles action.
