CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Lesley University's Nick Mattox earned a first singles and a first doubles win over Albertus Magnus as Lesley returned to .500 on the year (6-6, 5-5 NECC) with a 6-1 win on Sunday.
Mattox (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) topped Tim Gabbard 6-7, 6-0, 10-2 in top singles and combined with Christian Domingo to take an 8-1 win over Gabbard and Elvis Santana in first doubles. Domingo then beat Richard Mitchell 6-4, 6-2 in second singles.
Lesley's Mike Kaufman and Jimmy Paulsen each earned singles wins, with Kaufman (Boca Raton, FL/American Heritage) topping Heath Henderson 6-0, 6-1 in fourth singles and Paulsen (Monroe, CT/Masuk) defeating Santana 6-4, 7-6 in fifth singles.
For Albertus Magnus, the tandem of Richard and Riker Mitchell (Naugtauk, CT/Naugtauk) bested Kaufman and Paulsen 8-3 in second doubles for the Falcons lone point.
Lesley returns to play on Wednesday at Regis College in New England Collegiate Conference semifinal action.
