NEW HAVEN, CT -- Lesley and Mitchell will share the New England Collegiate Conference regular season crown after the Mariners 8-1 win over the visiting Lynx Wednesday night.
Lynx junior Christian Domingo earned Lesley's lone win, beating Mitchell's Andrew Small, 6-2, 6-3.
In his final regular season match, Lesley senior David Newton fell to Kyle Carmona, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, marking the first time in his collegiate career Carmona has been taken to three sets.
With identical NECC records of 7-1, Lesley (9-1) and Mitchell (10-2) will share the league's regular season crown, the Lynx holding a share of it for the first time and Mitchell capturing its third straight.
Mitchell and Lesley will next compete at this weekend's NECC Men's Tennis Championship. The flighted tournament will be held on April 30 and May 1 at the Mitchell Tennis Courts in New London, Conn. Matches are slated to begin at 10 a.m. each day.
