CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Lesley University men's tennis team won a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) match 7-2 over Newbury College on Saturday afternoon, improving their 2010 mark to 6-2 (5-2 NECC). The Nighthawks are now 0-11 (0-6 NECC) following their senior day loss.
The Lynx won the top three singles matches with David Newton
(HAMDEN, Conn./Hamden) taking the #1 match up 6-1, 6-1.
Number two singles player Nick Mattox (PASADENA, Md./Chesapeake)
won 6-1, 6-2 and #3 singles competitor Alex Zhitnik (WEST HARTFORD,
Conn./Conard) was victorious 6-1, 6-3.
Lesley also won the #5 singles match as Christian Domingo (LOS
ANGELES, Calif./College of the Canyons) won in three sets 6-2, 5-7,
7-5.
In doubles play, all three matches were won by the Lynx as
Newton and Zhitnik beat their opponents 9-7, Mattox and Domingo won
8-3 and Scott Wheeler (EAST HAMPTON, Conn./East Hampton) and Beau
Morimando (BAYSHORE, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) won 8-2.
Lesley will have their Senior Night on Tuesday, April 27 against NECC opponent Becker College starting at 6:30 pm at BB&N.
