Lynx take down Hawks; improved to 3-1

LEICESTER, Mass. – The Lesley University men’s tennis team recorded their third victory of the season with a 6-3 win over New England Collegiate College (NECC) rival Becker College on Wednesday afternoon.  The Lynx are now 3-2 (2-1 NECC) while the Hawks dropped to 2-2 (2-1 NECC).

The Lynx struggled in #1 singles and #1 doubles, losing both matches to the Hawks but Lesy showed their depth by winning six out of the seven remaining contests to take home the win.

Nick Mattox (PASADENA, Md./Chesapeake) won the #2 singles match in straight sets 6-0, 6-4 and was part of the #2 doubles duo with Christian Domingo (LOS ANGELES, Calif./College of the Canyons) that claimed a 8-2 victory.  Domingo also was his #5 singles match 6-2, 6-3 and improved his undefeated season record to 3-0 in singles play.

Alex Zhitnik (WEST HARTFORD, Conn./Conard) and Tyler Reeves (COVENTRY, Conn./Coventry) also recorded victories in their respective matches as Zhitnik won 6-3, 6-3 in #3 singles and Reeves won 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 in #6 singles.  Reeves and teammate Scott Wheeler (EAST HAMPTON, Conn./East Hampton) also won the #3 doubles match 8-4.

Lesley will host their home opener on Sunday, April 11 at 12:00 pm against NECC opponent Newbury College.
