Newbury tops Lesley 6-3

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - After winning their first match in the program's short history, the Lesley University men's tennis fell to Newbury College 6-3 despite winning the doubles competition and the number one singles match.

The doubles combinations of Zach Rocha (New Bedford, Mass.) and Fran Cusick (Lexington, Mass.) as well as Peter Lauer (Eugene, Ore.) and Peter Parrales (Otterberg, GERMANY) won their matches to win a point for Lesley.  Rocha and Cusick dominated their match 8-1 while Lauer and Parrales edged their opponents 8-6.

In singles play, Rocha stayed hot and won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.  His teammates, however, did not have as much success and the Lynx would not win another singles match.

Lesley will be back on the court against Rhode Island College on Thursday April 17 at 4 p.m. while Newbury will face Albertus Magnus College on the same day starting at 3:30 p.m.
