HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Badgers got out to an early 1-0 lead as Josiah Phillips used a setup from Fabrice Kerozene to give the hosts the one-goal lead just 4:11 into the match.
  • VTSU doubled the lead to 2-0 in the 27th minute on Cayole's first goal of the day, which ultimately proved to be the game-winner.
  • Lesley used the halftime break to regroup and made sure to come out strong in the second stanza as senior Nick Wadleigh (Glastonbury, Conn.) made it 2-1 just six minutes into the half, connecting with Marc Kenny Derac (Waltham, Mass.) for his third goal of the season.
  • Over the final 30 minutes, the Lynx fired seven more shots on frame but Lucas Gehring stood tall making all seven stops to keep the Badgers in front, 2-1.
  • Cayole put the nail in the coffin with his second goal of the contest in the final minute of play to secure the 3-1 final for VTSU Johnson.
