DeNicola Named NAC Rookie of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Lesley College men's soccer first-year forward Anthony DeNicola (Saunderstown, R.I.) was named North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference. It is DeNicola's first career NAC Weekly award win and the first overall for the Lynx this season.

DeNicola played a key role last week for Lesley, which included a key 2-2 draw against East Division leader Thomas College. In the hard-fought contest, DeNicola assisted on the game's opening goal and helped the Lynx earn a crucial point in the standings.

Last Saturday in a road matchup with Husson, DeNicola was all over the field. The first-year forward got the offense going when he netted the game's first goal for an early 1-0 advantage.  DeNicola's goal came after he made a nifty move near the right top corner of the goalie box, and after he got away from his defender, he rocketed in his shot in the left corner of the net. Later in the contest, when things were tied at one, he assisted on Lesley's second goal with a cross pass just outside the goalie box to find the goal scorer.

DeNicola and the Lynx return to action on Saturday, October 19, when they host UMaine Farmington in an NAC matchup starting at noon. Saturday's game also marks Lesley's Athletics Alumni Weekend.
