THE LEAD – Lesley University scored a late goal to earn a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Thomas College on Tuesday evening in NCAA Division III and NAC men's soccer action at Minuteman Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lynx found the back of the net early as junior Nick Wadleigh (Glastonbury, Conn.) finished off a cross from Anthony DeNicola (Saunderstown, R.I.) just 4:48 into the match to give LU the 1-0 edge.
  • The hosts remained on top until the 63rd minute before the Terriers registered the equalizer as Joshua Joseph did the damage to even the score at 1-1.
  • Just four minutes later Thomas took the lead on an unassisted marker by Micky Woodrow to pull ahead 2-1 with 23:30 left in the action.
  • Lesley remained poised and pulled even at 2-all at 74:09 as sophomore Miguel Vasconcelos (Sharon, Mass.) played a ball in from the right corner to find Marc Kenny Derac (Waltham, Mass.). Derac did the rest to knot the score at 2-2 in the final leg of the contest.
  • Thomas threatened in the final minute, hitting the crossbar with less than 30 seconds to play but the Lynx thwarted the threat to escape with the point.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • TC outshot Lesley on the match, 19-6 while owning an 8-1 edge in corners.
  • Senior Josiah Williams (Durham, N.C) made three stops for Lesley while Jamie Fischer finished with one save for Thomas.
