THE LEAD – Three second-half goals allowed Keene State College to pull away from visiting Lesley University, 4-0, Sunday afternoon in NCAA Division III men's soccer action at Dr. Ron Butcher Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Owls opened the scoring in just the sixth minute of play on a Christian Correra () marker to put the hosts ahead, 1-0. Correa buried a feed from Martin Lubunga to give KSC the lead for good.
  • After the early tally, the Lynx defensive unit settled in the remainder of the half, keeping it a one-goal game heading into the halftime break despite being outshot by Keene, 12-1, in the stanza.
  • Keene State doubled its lead in the 54th minute on Caleb Harmon's second goal of the season to bump the lead to 2-0. Lubunga and Nicho Henao Vasquez were each credited with an assist on the play.
  • The hosts started to pull away midway through the second half on a strike by Amlul Aitdowd to make it 3-0 with 28:36 left in the action and then with four minutes remaining, the Owls tacked on their final score of the game on Stephen Kallestad's first collegiate goal to account for the 4-0 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • The Owls outshot the Lynx 24-2 in the action while also owning an 11-0 advantage in corners.
  • 25 players saw the pitch in the action for KSC compared to only 16 for LU.
  • DJ Cronin (New York, N.Y.) and Anthony DeNicola (Saunderstown, R.I.) each attempted one shot for Lesley.
  • Keene State goalkeeper Regan Racicot played all 90 minutes to earn the win and shutout while LU sophomore Aiden Hendricks (Richmond, Va.) made his collegiate debut with eight stops in the defeat.
