USM Holds Men's Soccer Scoreless in 5-0 Setback

GORHAM, Maine -  Freshman Jack Brady (Jensen Beach, Fla.) notched a brace to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 5-0 win over the Lesley University Lynx in a non-conference men's soccer game Wednesday afternoon at Hannaford Field.

Brady was responsible for both of the Huskies first half goals. The Huskies rattled off three more in the second half for the 5-0 final, outshooting the Lynx 21-9 (12-2 on frame).

The Records:
Lesley (0-3-0)
Southern Maine (2-0-1)

Today's game is the first ever meeting between the Huskies and Lynx. Lesley faced a common opponent in Keene State in its game prior to its match up with the Huskies falling to Keene State 5-0 on September 3.

How It Happened:

  • Brady glanced in his first intercollegiate goal in the third minute finish an assist from senior Will Smith (Northborough, Mass.).  Smith's assist is the second point in as many games for the back.
  • Brady made it 2-0 in the 27th minute on an outstanding set-piece goal, hitting the upper far post of the goal off of a feed from senior Orlando Herrera (Milbridge, Maine/Sumner Memorial).
  • In the second half, senior Noah Perry (Waterboro, Maine/Massabesic) hit a screamer of a one-time volley to make it 3-0 in the 51st minute. Perry hit the volley off of the service of sophomore Cole Johnson (Orange, Mass./Ralph C. Mahar).
  • USM added two more goals in the 75th and 76th minute. Freshmen Exauce Lenge (Portland, Maine) and Connor Langstaff (Windham, Maine) each scored their first collegiate goals.
