Men's Soccer Travels to DWC for NECC Semifinal Match

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University senior Herbin Berreondo (Brighton, Mass.) provided two goals, including the game-winner in the 85th minute, to send the Lynx to a 3-2 victory over Newbury College and sending them to the New England Collegiate Conference Semifinals where they will meet second-seeded Daniel Webster College on Friday afternoon at 2:00p. The Eagles, who finished 13-5-1 overall and 5-2 in NECC play, earned a First Round bye.

Scouting Daniel Webster
Freshman Aaron Esparza (Dover, N.H.)  led the NECC with nine goals and 20 total points to power the Eagle offense while classmate Nathan Misidi (Atlanta, Ga.) chipped in with seven goals of his own. Junior Sean Hamilton (Brookline, N.H.) has handled the majority of goalkeeping duties as he has compiled an 11-4-0 record with a 1.17 GAA and five shutouts.

Scouting Lesley
Lesley is making an appearance in the NECC Semifinals for the seventh consecutive season following their 3-2 win over Newbury College on Wednesday. Freshman Anthony Vitta (Oceanside, N.Y.) potted the first goal for the Lynx before Berreondo's two tallies lifted the Lynx for the win. Senior Jordan Santos (Middlebury, Conn.) was credited with assists on all three goals while junior Ryan Richardson (Santa Barbara, Calif.) registered a helper on Vitta's goal. Junior goalkeeper Chase Donley (Elizabethtown, Pa.) made five saves in the first NECC postseason start of his career.

Previous Matchup
The Eagles scored two goals in the final six minutes to break a 2-2 tie and top the Lynx 4-2 on October 18th in their only matchup of the regular season. Esparza, Misidi, and sophomore Michael Ottman (Kennebunkport, Maine) and Ian Hutchinson (Litchfield, N.H.) all scored for the Eagles while Santos supplied both Lynx markers.

What's At Stake
The winner will advance to the NECC Championship and play the winner of the Elms-Regis Semifinal matchup. The Championship match will be played on Sunday at the highest remaining seed.
