CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After picking up a pair of wins this past weekend, the Lesley University men's soccer team capped their weekend by announcing the addition of six year old, Nathan, to the roster. The Lynx drafted Nathan from Team IMPACT, whose mission it is to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illness through the power of team.

At his Draft Day, Nathan signed his Letter of Intent to join the Lynx and was presented with a team jersey at a press conference held in the Lesley team room. The courageous six year old also helped lead the team in pre-game stretches, practiced some shooting on the goal, and enjoyed breakfast with the team prior to the match against Regis College on Saturday afternoon. Before the match, Nathan was introduced with the team and joined the Lynx to get pumped up in their pregame huddle.

Nathan was diagnosed with a brain tumor in the fall of 2012. After a fall off the monkey bars in the summer in which he broke his arm, he was experiencing some motor skill issues by fall that required another visit to the doctor. In November of 2012, he had surgery to remove the tumor and 15 months of chemotherapy followed. This past April, the tumor was stable but he still has to go through MRI's every three months to monitor the tumor.

Lesley is thrilled to be paired up with Nathan, who will provide a spark for the Lynx as the season moves forward.

Team IMPACT children are drafted on to local college athletic teams and, in effect, become official members of the team from Draft Day through to Graduation. At Team IMPACT, they envision a future where the lives of children facing the hardships associated with adverse issues and events will have access to expanded team-based support networks in order to significantly enhance their quality of life and to fill their lives with more love and laughter. Established in 2011, Team IMPACT has already matched over 400 children with collegiate teams, improving the quality of life of hundreds of courageous children and touching the lives of over 10,000 student athletes.
