Richardson overtime game-winner sinks Blazers

CHICOPEE, MA -- Lesley freshman Ryan Richardson provided the game-winner in the fourth minute of overtime, breaking a scoreless tie and leading the Lynx to a thrilling 1-0 win over Elms College on Saturday in New England Collegiate Conference men's soccer action.

Sudden death commenced after Lesley earned a 20-10 advantage in shots through the first 90 minutes, with Lynx goalkeeper Nigel Leahy making five saves through regulation and Blazers goalie Christian Kostka stopping 11 shots in the second half after entering at the intermission. The teams traded a shot each in the 92nd minute before Richardson struck the game-winner at 93:17.

The freshman took a through ball from sophomore Jordan Santos and beat Kostka on a breakaway, lifting the Lynx to 9-4-2 and keeping the team perfect at 6-0-0 on in league play.

For the match, Lesley outshot Elms (6-6-2, 2-2-1) 22-11, though the Blazers earned four corner kicks to the Lynx three.

Lesley returns to play Tuesday night in Cambridge, playing host to Mitchell College at 8:00 p.m.
