CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Lesley University bested Regis College 4-1 Monday night in New England Collegiate Conference men's soccer play at Edward Field.
Sophomore Jordan Santos (Middlebury, CT/Pomperaug) assisted on the Lynx first two goals before Ari Sinanis (Guilford, CT/Guilford) scored the last two on a penalty kick and an indirect kick as the Lynx improved to 5-2-2 (2-0-0 NECC) with a third straight win.
The Lynx got on the board in the 15th minute on Jonathan Jones Takano's (Tokyo, Japan/Bunker Hill CC) team-leading fourth goal. Santos slid a pass through the Pride defense that found Takano in the top left corner of the goalkeeper box, where the senior co-captain deflected the game's first goal on the ground into the right corner of the net.
Santos continued his creative giving eight minutes later, when he flicked a pass out of the left corner and into the center of the box, where Makenzie Lukas (Reno, NV/Reno), who just entered the game two minutes prior, had gotten over the top of the defense for an easy tap-in past Stefan Todorovic from five yards away at 21:43.
Lynx co-captain Ari Sinanis (Guilford, CT/Guilford) added a third Lynx first half goal in the 38th minute. Fellow senior Darius Koep (Pittstown, NJ/Del-Val) was taken down in front of the left post, sending Sinanis to the penalty kick strip where he netted his third goal of the season.
The Lynx returned the favor at 52:47, when a deep throw-in from the left corner in front of the Lesley goal led to an illegal takedown on a would-be Pride header. Senior Steve Tavares (Bellingham, MA/Bellingham) stepped to the stripe for Regis and converted, pulling the Pride to within 3-1.
Sinanis added his third goal of the season on an indirect kick from just under 25 yards, making it a 4-1 final.
For the night, the Lynx outshot Regis (3-7-0, 1-1-0 NECC) by the count of 16-4.
Winners of three in a row, Lesley returns to play on Saturday in NECC action at Becker.
