Lynx come back on Mountaineers for 2-1 win in NECC opener

BENNINGTON, VT -- Lesley used a Ryan Richardson second half assist to tie the game at 1-1 before the freshman's first career goal gave Lesley a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Southern Vermont in both teams' New England Collegiate Conference openers Saturday afternoon.

Southern Vermont's Eric Argueta gave the Mountaineers a 1-0 lead on a feed from Pierre Massena in the 23rd minute, and the lead held until early in the second half. At 56:20, Richardson assisted on Jimmy Paulsen's first goal of 2012 and then provided the lift in the 64th minute.

The freshman bested Christopher Dunham at 63:07 to swing the Lynx on top, and Paul Vasconcelos' defense limited the Mountaineers to one shot over the final 30 minutes in sealing the conference-opening win.

For the match, Lesley outshot Southern Vermont 19-5 and earned eight corner kicks to only two for the Mounties, which fell to 1-7-0 (0-1-0).

At 4-2-2 and 1-0-0 in the NECC, Lesley plays host to Regis on Monday.
