Lynx stun Maine-Farmington on Koep overtime header

CAMBRIDGE, MA – Lesley University picked up its first victory of 2012 with a 4-3 overtime triumph over Maine-Farmington.
Darius Koep (Pittstown, NJ/Del-Val) sent home a header on an Ari Sinanis (Guilford, CT/Guilford) corner kick with 86 seconds remaining in overtime, one of three Sinanis assists, evening the Lynx record at 1-1-2
Lesley set the tone of a fast-paced, high scoring game with a pair of goals in a 25-second span in the 19th minute. Nick Mattox (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) sent home a rebound off a Sinanis shot, and Sinanis beat his defender and fired a shot from 20 yards along the right flank into the top right corner of the net.
Farmington pulled to within one at halftime on a Luiz Ristow (Joinville, Brazil/Positivo) header in front of the left post off a long Paul Dupree (Rehoboth, MA/Xaverian) indirect kick from across midfield. The Lynx held a 10-4 advantage in shots through halftime, but Jake Constantine (Woodland, NJ/Seneca) and the Beavers came out firing out of the intermission.
The senior netted goals in the 52nd and 58th minutes, the first on a feed from inside 10 yards on a touch from Michael Kelly (Norton, MA/Norton). Farmington took the lead when the forward sent home a long Dupre cross from point blank range at 57:38, but Lesley would counter with the equalizer moments later.
Jordan Santos (Middlebury, CT/Pomperaug) fielded a Sinanis cross from midfield, dribbled down the right flank and beat goalkeeper Chris Roberts in a 1-on-1 situation into the bottom left corner of the net for his first goal of the season at 60:47. After six goals in 61 minutes, the scoring went silent for the remaining 29, as the teams went into sudden death knotted at 3-3.
Finally, at 98:34, Sinanis' kick from the left corner sailed midway through the goalkeeper box, where Koep's header directed it inside the right post from directly in front of the net.
With the win, Lesley improves to 1-1-2, while the Beavers fall to 1-1-0.
The Lynx return to play on Thursday against Emmanuel.
