Lesley sends three to NECC Men's Soccer First Team

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- The NCAA Tournament-bound Lynx sent three players to the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference All-Tournament Team, which the league released this afternoon.

Sophomore Ali Sozeri, junior Ari Sinanis and senior Christian Domingo all made the league's First Team on Monday, the second straight First Team honor for all three.

Sozeri was yesterday named NECC Tournament Most Valuable Player after his hat trick in Lesley's championship victory at Southern Vermont, but he enjoyed a successful regular season prior to his record eight goals in the league tourney.  The forward finished fourth in the NECC with 11 goals and fifth with 23 points. He totaled nine points on four goals in league play and is in the overall league lead with 19 goals and 39 points.

Sinanis finished second in the league with eight assists and added five goals during the regular season and is the overall leader with 10 assists. The midfielder is also currently tied for fifth in the league with 24 total points. He tallied two goals and two assists in the Lynx three NECC Tournament games.

Domingo anchored the league's second best defense, which allowed only 0.86 goals per game during the regular season and sits at just over one goal per game after the conference tournament. A physical force in front of his own keeper, Domingo is also an offensive threat in the opposing box, scoring the game-winning goal in the Lynx 1-0 win over Newbury on senior day as well as a playoff goal against Mitchell.

Also honored from Lesley's outstanding defense were defender Ryan Rodgers and goalkeeper Max Perkins, who received All-NECC Honorable Mention accolades. Rodgers started 19 of the team's 20 games as a senior.

Perkins finished the year with an .802 saves percentage, good for second in the league, and a league-best 1.00 goals-against average. His 16 goals allowed are the fewest of any starting goalkeeper, and his shutout of top-seed Southern Vermont in yesterday's NECC Championship was his fifth on the season.

After Sunday's 4-0 win over the Mountaineers, Lesley moves on to face Babson in the Lynx first-ever NCAA Tournament game on Saturday, November 12 at 11 a.m.
