Seniors connect on game-winner in senior day win

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Lesley University upended Newbury College, 1-0, in New England Collegiate Conference men's soccer play on senior day at Edward Field Sunday afternoon.

Beau Morimando (Bay Shore, NY/St. John the Baptist) connected with fellow senior Christian Domingo (Granada Hills, CA/Delphi) for the game's lone goal, improving the Lynx to 12-4-1 and 6-2 in NECC play to end its regular season with a much-needed victory.

The loss drops Newbury to 6-10-1 and 5-2-1 in conference as the Lynx leapfrog the Nighthawks in the league standings.

Lesley outshot Newbury 15-0 and worked three corner kicks to only one for Newbury in the first half. In spite of spending most of the frame in Nighthawks territory, Lesley came away empty and the teams went into halftime in a scoreless tie.

With 25:17 left in the game, a recently-inserted Morimando took a corner kick and sent a low line drive kick to the front of the near post, where Domingo one-timed the ball into the top left of the net for his third goal of the season.

Playing 11-on-10 after a red card to Lynx midfielder Ari Sinanis, Newbury applied pressure late but could not find the equalizer.

For the Nighthawks, William McNally (Grafton, MA/Marion) made 11 saves before departing after 70 minutes. For the game, Lesley outshot Newbury 23-1.

The teams now await their playoff seeding for this week's NECC Tournament.
