BOSTON, MA -- Lesley improved to 6-1-1 on the season by winning its third straight Charles River Cup, 2-0, over non-conference rival Emerson Wednesday night at Rotch Field in Boston's South End.

For a second straight game, leading scorer Ali Sozeri got the Lynx on the board only to be followed by an Ari Sinanis goal as Lesley extended its unbeaten streak to five games.

Sozeri took a through ball from junior Darius Koep that trickled to -- and was briefly misplayed by -- Lions goalkeeper Noah Price. Staying with the bobbled ball, Sozeri took advantage of what became an open net in putting the Lynx on top 1-0 at 22:46.

It remained a 1-0 game through halftime, when in spite of his Lynx outshooting Emerson 10-8 and holding a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks, Lesley keeper Max Perkins was the busier of the two netminders, stopping five shots to Price's two.

The teams went scoreless for the first 30-plus minutes of the second half, but Sinanis changed that at 78:56, sending a header off a Christian Domingo kick into the back of the net for an insurance goal, upping the Lynx to 6-1-1 on 2011.

All eight of Perkins saves would come before halftime, as the Lynx defense locked down in holding its opponent without a shot on goal for a second straight second half.

Sozeri moves back into first place in the NECC with seven goals, while Perkins extends his league-leading goals-against average to 0.52 per game and NECC-best saves percentage to .893.

The assist for Koep marks a second straight Charles River Cup in which he assisted on the Lynx first goal, as he did so in last season's 2-1 Lesley victory.

With the win, Paul Vasconcelos' club evened the all-time series in Charles River Cup matches at three wins for each team, three straight for the Lynx.

Lesley opens NECC play on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Daniel Webster College.
