Lynx come from behind again to top Amcats, 3-1

PAXTON, MA -- Lesley used a second half comeback four the third time in five wins on the season, this time erasing a 1-0 deficit with a pair of goals in an eight-minute span that put the Lynx on top for good in Monday night's 3-1 win at Anna Maria.

After a scoreless first half, the Lynx found themselves in a 1-0 hole almost immediately out of intermission. In what wound up being the Amcats only shot on goal, Enco Lika made it count, scoring at 49:09 and putting Anna Maria ahead, 1-0.

The slim lead lasted under four minutes. Lynx leading scorer Ali Sozeri landed his NECC-leading sixth goal of the year, tying the contest 1-1 at 53:54. Eight minutes later, at 61:50, the NECC's top assist man, Ari Sinanis, took matters into his own hands in netting what would be the game-winner, as he beat Amcats keeper Mike Dandurand in putting Lesley ahead to stay with a penalty kick goal, his first of 2011.

With its first lead of the night -- and first in nine days after tying Emerson and besting Suffolk in sudden death -- the Lynx defense made it last, holding Anna Maria without a shot for the final 40:51 of the contest.

Alex Fisher upped the lead to 3-1 at 79:18 with his first goal of the season as the Lynx improved to 5-1-1 on the season.

Former Lesley star and current Anna Maria head coach Zach Rocha, meanwhile, falls to 0-6-1 in his inaugural season.

For the Amcats, Dandurand made nine saves.

Lesley returns to play on the road on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. against Emerson College in the Sixth Annual Charles River Cup.
