Lynx scrap out scoreless tie at Emmanuel

BOSTON -- Looking to move to 5-1 on 2011 and 3-0 against the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, Lesley brought the New England Collegiate Conference's second highest scoring offense to Roberto Clemente Field and stayed flawless against the GNAC by way of a scoreless tie against undefeated host Emmanuel.

Goalkeepers Nathan Trucks and Nigel Leahy combined on the shutout, the Lynx (4-1-1) second of the season. Trucks earned the start, playing the first half and stopping all three Saints (2-0-4) shots on goal before being relieved by Leahy at the start of the second half.

Leahy made one save in the second, and neither team took a shot on goal for either 10-minute overtime period.

In his first action of 2011, the sophomore Trucks was up to the task, tying Emmanuel keeper Wilhelm Du Bois for match-high honors with three saves.

In a match that featured two yellow cards for both teams, Lesley held a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal and a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks.

For the Saints, tonight's marked the team's fifth overtime contest in six matches, four of which have ended in ties.

Paul Vasconcelos' club returns to action Monday night at 7:00 in non-conference play at Anna Maria.
