Petit propels Lynx past Mass Maritime, 4-1

BUZZARDS BAY, MA -- Midfielder Joe Petit scored a pair of goals in powering the Lynx past Mass Maritime Saturday evening, 4-1.

Ali Sozeri scored his team-leading fifth goal for the Lynx, as the team improved to 3-1-0.

Petit started the scoring 10 minutes in, scoring on a header to put Lesley ahead 1-0, and Sozeri's strike gave the Lynx a 2-0 lead going into the intermission. 

The senior Petit added some insurance to open the second half, as his second goal of the game upped the Lynx lead to 3-0, more than enough for goalkeeper Nigel Leahy, who improved to 3-0-0 in net on the season.

Jimmy Paulsen scored his first goal of the season to put the Lynx up 4-0, and a Bucs goal in the waning minutes made it a 4-1 final.

Lesley plays host to 2010 NCAA Tournament participant Suffolk University on Monday at 8:00 p.m. at Edward Field.
