
CHESTNUT HILL, MA - Lesley suffered its first in-region loss and first New England Collegiate Conference defeat on Saturday, falling to Newbury College, 1-0 in overtime.
With sole possession of first place in the NECC on lock, Lesley was stunned in the 99th minute by a sixth-place Nighthawks squad that entered the day 3-13 on the season. With a perfect conference season at stake, the setback drops the Lynx to 15-2 and 6-1 in NECC play.
After a scoreless regualtion, Tim Chatingy scored the game-winner at 98:30 on a pass from Shaundize Moosavizad.
For the match, Lesley outshot Newbury 19-7 and worked an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks, but Chatingy cashed in when it counted.
The Lynx enjoy a first-round bye in the NECC Playoff, opening their postseason at home on Friday night.
