Offensive outburst storms Lynx past Blazers

CHICOPEE, MA -- The Lynx vaunted offensive attack entered overdrive, as five different players scored goals, two players scoring twice and another two finding the back of the net for the first time this season in Saturday's 7-3 win at Elms.

Sophomore Ari Sinanis got the party started eight minutes in, beating Blazers keeper Ryan Sullivan for his fifth goal of the season. Just over eight minutes later, Nick Mattox struck for his second of the year, this on Lynx leading scorer Ali Sozeri's first assist of 2010.

Lesley, which entered the contest leading the New England Collegiate Conference in all offensive categories, extended its lead at 20:18, as Sozeri found Sinanis to make it 3-0.

With Johnathan Coyne now in the Elms goal in Sullivan's stead, Yair Correa's first score of 2010 in the 35th minute would be the eventual game-winner. Not to be left out, reigning NECC Player of the Week Joseph Petit added a tally of his own in the 38th minute, as Lesley took a 5-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Lynx picked up right where they left off, with Ahmed Abubakar's first goal of the season upping the lead to 6-0. In his first action in a Lesley uniform, freshman Nathan Trucks relieved Zachary Almeida-Beers in goal, stopping three shots and allowing three more. Leading 6-3, Petit added his second of the day at 82:21, as Lesley cruised to a 7-3 victory.

Paul Vasconcelos' team improved to 10-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in conference. With the loss, Elms falls to 0-9-1 and 0-2-0 in NECC play.

Lesley wraps up its three-game road trip on Wednesday in non-conference action at Suffolk at 8 p.m.
