CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - A second half goal by Darius Koep (PITTSTOWN, N.J./Del-Val) lifted the Lesley University men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Suffolk University on Tuesday evening and in the process improved their season record to 8-2-2 (1-0-1 NECC).  The Rams dropped to 4-3-2 (1-0-2 GNAC) following the loss.

Lesley and Suffolk battled through 56 minutes of scoreless play until Lynx midfielder Yair Correa (PAWTUCKET, R.I./St. Raphael Academy) lofted a pass to Koep who hit a one-timer to the right of Rams keeper Jack DeJesus (Swampscott, Mass.) for the match's lone goal.

For Koep, it was his fifth goal of the season.  With this goal, the freshman has also recorded the last three game-winning goals for the Lynx.

Four minutes earlier, Suffolk had their best opportunity to take the lead after Danny Lloyd (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) maneuvered around a couple of Lesley defenders and fired a shot off the crossbar.  The Rams controlled much of the second half, outshooting the Lynx 11-7 but they were unable to score the equalizer.

Lesley keeper Zachary Almeida-Beers (REHOBOTH, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth Regional) was unflappable in net as the junior tallied nine saves, including a few diving stops to keep his team on top.  His counterpart, DeJesus, finished with five saves and just the one goal allowed.

The Lynx will be back in action on Thursday, October 8 in non-conference match with Nichols College starting at 4:00 pm.  Suffolk will host Emerson College in a GNAC match on Saturday, October 10 at 1:00 pm.
