Emmanuel tops Lesley 2-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Emmanuel College men's soccer team defeated Lesley University 2-0 on Tuesday evening.  The loss dropped Lesley's record to 2-4-0 (0-0-0 NECC) while Emmanuel improved to 2-0-0 (0-0-0 GNAC) on the season.

Towards the end of the first half, the Saints offense put heavy pressure on the Lynx backfield as they placed several men in the box.  With the ball juggling around, freshman midfielder Matthew Koenemann (Montpelier, Vt.) rocketed a kick past keeper Zachary Almeida-Beers (Rehoboth, Mass.) for the game's first goal.

Emmanuel would create a 2-0 cushion in the 74th minute as captain Dan D'Amato (Huntington, Mass.) found the back of the net off a lead pass from teammate Gavin Molta (Southwick, Mass.).

Lesley's best opportunity to score came in the second half when Stephen Siragusa (Valley Stream, N.Y.) sent a deep ball from midfield towards the goalie box where Woody Davidson (Keeseville, N.Y.) nearly deflected the ball in the net.

The Lynx will be back in action on September 16 at Gordon College at 4:30 pm.  Emmanuel will host UMass-Dartmouth on September 11 at 3:30 pm.
