CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - It took only six minutes into the first overtime for the UMaine-Farmington Beavers to score the winning goal and defeat Lesley University 1-0.
Beavers striker Andrew Harner headed a lead pass from Jeff Tatarczuk to the top right corner of the net to put away the Lynx. Lesley keeper Zachary Almeida-Beers (Rehoboth, Mass.) dove, but the ball was already in the back of the net.
A few minutes earlier, Lesley just missed an opportunity to win the game when Joseph Petit (Salem, Mass.) was barely called offsides after he tapped the ball past Farmington keeper Brian Lemont.
The game became very physical in the second half after Beaver
defensive back Andrew Merriken received a yellow card for an
aggressive charge against a Lesley forward.
UMaine-Farmington improved to 2-2-1 in the North Atlantic
Conference while Lesley dropped to 2-3.
The Lynx will play Newbury College on Sunday October 7 at 2 p.m. To learn more about the Lesley University men's soccer team, please visit their website.
