Lynx win one, lose one

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University men's soccer team traveled to Maine Maritime Academy and Husson College in two important North Atlantic Conference match ups.  Lesley came out on top against MMA 3-1 but lost to Husson 3-0.

Against MMA, the Lynx scored the first of their three first half goals at 15:06 on a Sam Mead (Worthing, ENGLAND) cross over keeper Randy Bartlett's head into the upper left corner of the goal.  Joseph Petit (Salem, Mass.) followed up five minutes later as he finished off a pass from Mead off a corner kick.  The third goal of the half came unassisted from striker Tyler Reeves (Coventry, Conn.) at 28:14 to give the Lynx a commanding lead at halftime.

MMA finally got on the board late in the second half when Isaiah Roberts scored off the crossbar after Lesley goalie Zachary Almeida-Beers (Rehoboth, Mass.) punched out the initial save.  Almeida-Beers on the day made 5 saves on 15 shots for the Lynx.

Lesley looked to continue their NAC success as they played the next day at Husson College.  Husson shutout the Lynx, thanks one goal and two assists from junior defender Jeffrey Truchon.  Truchon set up midfielder Mark Trombley on a left to right cross at 15:18.  In the second half, Josh Bartlett put the Eagles up 2-0 on Truchon's second assist of the day.  Truchon capped his amazing day with his only goal, racing down the left side beating his defender and slipping the ball through keeper Almeida-Beers legs.

Almeida-Beers tried his best to keep the Lynx in the game with two great saves in the first half, including one point blank shot from Truchon.

As a result of this weekend's games, the Lynx find themselves at 4-3-1 overall (2-1-0 NAC).  The loss to Husson was their first loss in conference play.

The Lynx will play host to a weekend series against NAC opponent UMaine-Farmington on Saturday October 6, and Newbury College on Sunday October 7.
