Lynx draw with Hawks 3-3

Worcester, Mass. - Another hard fought NAC match for the Lynx as they traveled to Worcester to face Becker College. Behind two second-half goals, Lesley drew Becker, 3-3, in a road contest that kept the Lynx at 3-2-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the NAC.

Freshman defender Scott Wheeler (East Hampton, Mass.) scored twice from the spot in the 14th and 85th minute respectively. The 1st penalty came when Becker committed a foul in the box after a nice combination play between forwards Nick Wilkins (Lincoln, Mass.) and Steve Monteiro (Shelton, Conn.). The second came in the final minutes when Monterio was pulled down in the box.

Becker scored minutes before halftime and made it 2-1 just five minutes into the second half on a counter attack.

In the 66th minute, however, Lesley tied it up with a class finish from freshmen Evan Hunt (Cambridge, Mass.). Hunt took the ball from the 30 yards out and buried a blistering shot in the top right corner.

Becker pulled ahead with another quick counter attack and seemed to have the game in hand until the Wheeler penalty conversion. Both sides played tough in the overtime period with each side having a few chances to win. Freshman goalie Imad Elkatrib (North Quincy, Mass.) made eleven saves in net and junior captain Mark Montgomery (Leeds, ENGLAND) played strong in defense.

Lesley will play hosts to two non-conference opponents this weekend. Saturday Sept 30th Emerson College will be in Cambridge for "Lesley Fan night," a 5pm start and St. Joe's of Maine on Sunday October 1st for a 3pm kick off.  For more information on the Lesley men's soccer team please go to their website.
