Male Lynx win first ever North Atlantic Conference contest

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - It took just 45 seconds for the Lesley Men's Soccer program to score its first goal in North Atlantic Conference play, and it took just 90 minutes for the Lynx to record their first-ever NAC victory, as Lesley defeated Thomas, 4-1, Saturday night.

Junior Gherry Etienne (Roslindale, Mass.) tapped in a loose cross by senior midfielder Brian Aderer (Acton, Mass.) inside the Thomas penalty box just 45 seconds after the opening kickoff of what was also the first-ever home match in Lesley Men's Soccer history.

But the Lynx' offensive momentum didn't immediately continue. Thomas tied the game at 1-1 midway through the first half on a Tyler Simpson goal.

Lesley broke the deadlock in the 30th minute, though, when sophomore Zach Rocha (New Bedford, Mass.) slotted a pass to streaking freshman Steve Monteiro (Shelton, Conn.), who one-timed the ball with his right foot into the back of the net.

After taking a 2-1 lead into halftime, Lesley added a little bit of cushion just two minutes out of the break when Aderer put home a penalty kick.

Etienne put the game away in the 81st minute when he converted a penalty kick of his own - his second goal of the day.

For the contest, the Lynx outshot Thomas, 29-15.

Freshman goalie Imad Elkatrib (North Quincy, Mass.) only had to post less than a handful of saves, thanks in large part to the defense of freshmen James Boursiquot (Bridgeport, Conn.), Evan Hunt (Cambridge, Mass.), and Scott Wheeler (East Hampton, Conn.).
