LU 2006 Men's Soccer Preview

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University Men's soccer team looks to begin a new chapter in the school's history.  Head Coach, Paul Vasconcelos and 1st year assistant Michael Monteiro officially kicked off pre-season this past week.

Vasconcelos and company will open up the season on the road against Daniel Webster College on Monday, September 11th.  The team's home opener will be a few days later against Rivier College on Thursday Sept 17th at 7:30 pm under the lights at BB&N.  The Male Lynx  will get their first big test on Sunday, September 24th when they travel to Mt. Ida College, the defending NAC champions.

The Lynx did begin the 06' campaign with a 3-1 defeat of Bunker Hill in a pre-season match at home.  Freshman Steven Montiero (Bridgeport, Conn.) scored 2 goals off of free kicks outside the box. The team played remarkably well for their first time playing together and showed much potential.

Along with a very challenging NAC schedule ahead of them Coach Vasconcelos didn't make anything easier with their non-conference schedule.  The Lynx have Emerson, Curry and Emmanuel on the schedule.  Coach Vasconcelos commented on the upcoming year, "Many of the guys are just starting to get used to each other and it will take time to get this group on the same page.  We are however, extremely excited about our freshmen recruiting class."
