Golf Concludes Fall Season At NEIGA Championships

THE LEAD—Competing against a field filled with some of the top teams in New England, the Lesley University men's golf team finished 22nd at the 89th NEIGA Championships, played at the Captains Course on Cape Cod. As a team, the Lynx scored 731 over the two days in the final tournament of their inaugural season. 

The Lynx started the tournament with a first-round score of 358 on the Starboard course to sit in 22nd place after the opening 18 holes before turning in a 373 on Sunday at the Port course.  

LESLEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Jeremy Ouellette (Old Saybrook, Conn.) paced the Lynx at the end of the tournament with a 69th-place finish and carded a 165 (+21) overall. In the opening round, he finished with a score of 81 (+9), and his best round was the back nine with a 39 (+3). However, his best hole that day was on the front nine when he scored a birdie on hole two, which was a par three. On the final day, Oullette finished with a 95 (+23) that included back-to-back birdies on holes four and five with pars of four and three, respectively. 
  • Christian McElroy (Toms River, N.J.) led the Lynx after day one with a score of 81 (+9), and his best round that day came in the front nine when he carded a 39 (+3). He also notched a birdie on hole nine, which was a par four. Meanwhile, in the final round, McElroy scored 97 (+25) for an overall score of 178 (+34) in a 97th-place finish. 
  • Lesley's third-best golfer was Hunter Treanor (Bulverde, Texas), who scored 191 (+47) and finished 108th. Treanor opened the tournament with a 96 (+24) and then concluded his day with a 95 (+23). 
  • Rounding out the golfers for Lesley were Patrick Teasdale (Stamford, Conn.) and Mason Erwin (Ivoryton, Conn.) , each with scores of 202 (+58) for 112th-place finishes. Teasdale posted a 98(+26) in round one and then wrapped up with a 104 (+32) on Sunday. Meanwhile, Erwin scored 103 (+31) on day one, and then on day two, he finished at 99 (+27).
