THE LEAD – The Lesley University men's golf program made great strides from its NCAA debut a week ago, improving 31 strokes as a team in a dual match vs. Mitchell College Friday afternoon at Shennecossett Golf Course. The Lynx fired a program-best 342 in their second match as a varsity program.

LESLEY HIGHLIGHTS

• First year Jeremy Ouellette (Old Saybrook, Conn.) shot a program-record 77 (+6) for a third-place finish in the event.
• Lynx senior Patrick Teasdale (Stamford, Conn.) shot an even-par 35 on the back nine, carding a season-low 83.
• First year Hunter Treanor (Bulverde, Tex.) dropped 10 strokes from his debut score at SUNY Delhi, posting a season-best 87.
• In his collegiate golf debut, senior Christian McElroy (Toms River, N.J.) came in with a 95 while sophomore Scott Scherrer (Skaneateles, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring total with a 96.

WINNING PERFORMANCE

• Mitchell senior Shamus McLean (Groton, Conn.) shot an even par 71 to medal and lead the Mariners to a 339-team score to clip the Lynx by three strokes in the team match.
• MC senior Jack Hayes (New Milford, Conn.) back up McLean with a 75 (+4) for a career-best.
• The Lynx held a 343-349 lead going into the final pairing. Mitchell's Nathan Mahoney (Stonington, Conn.) came in 10 strokes better than his teammate Liam Kane's (Waterford, Conn.) score and despite the Lynx also improving by a stroke thanks to McElroy's card, the hosts claimed the team total by three strokes at 339-342.
